“Corel Corp. shares jumped almost 33 per cent yesterday
after the software maker said it plans to release a Linux operating
system later this year that can run some Windows
applications.”
“Ottawa-based Corel’s shares gained $7.50 or 33 per cent to
$30.60 on the Toronto Stock Exchange, the latest twist in the
stock’s roller-coaster ride in the past few months. After spending
most of 1999 trading between $4 and $8, Corel shares rode the
recent Linux craze to an all-time high of $64.65 early last month
before plummeting below $20 less than two weeks later.”
