InfoWorld: IBM teams with SCO, Intel on 64-bit Unix

IBM is undertaking a major project with Intel and SCO that
includes developing a version of the Unix operating system for
Intel’s upcoming 64-bit processor architecture.

The ultimate goal of the companies is to give software vendors a
single platform to which to port for 32- and 64-bit Unix systems on
Intel and IBM PowerPC microprocessors, officials at the companies
said.
