InfoWorld: Linux adds another member to supporting cast

Berkeley Software Design Inc. (BSDI) on Wednesday announced it
is adding Linux application support to its BSD/OS operating
system.

According to Kevin Rose, BSDI marketing director, “In terms of
ISPs, the main applications they want are the heavy databases, but
they would like to put them on [their platforms] for one-third to
one-half the cost [of other platforms]”.

BSDI’s Linux Application Platform (LAP) will be offered in a
beta version in the first quarter of 1999 at no cost to BSD/OS
users.
