Internet Week: Compaq To Pump $100M Into Unix

“Financially Troubled Compaq plans to invest $100 million in
marketing and support to make its Tru64 Unix running on Alpha
machines the top-selling RISC/Unix architecture in key
markets.”

“The memo also stated that Compaq will continue its support for
SCO UnixWare and Linux.”

“Compaq sees both operating systems as complementary to Tru64
Unix, with Linux especially suitable for high-performance technical
and Web server applications, said Don Jenkins, vice president of
marketing and product management in the Unix software division of
Compaq.”
