Cosponsored by Linux
International and the Linux
Journal, Ziff-Davis will open the doors on the Linux Global
Summit April 19-20 at COMDEX Spring ’99 in Chicago’s McCormick

This will be a chance to learn the business potential of the
Linux operating system. Aimed at corporate IT developers, resellers
and systems integrators, the program will include enterprise user
sessions and developer workshops.
Linus Torvalds will kick off the event Monday morning with a
keynote presentation titled History of a Small OS. This
will be followed Jon “Maddog” Hall, Executive Director of Linux
International, giving a high-level presentation about the Linux
operating system: its features, development model, capabilities,
success stories, distributions and differences.
Monday afternoon will feature conference sessions: Linux for the
Channel and Linux for the Masses. In the latter session, Jon
“Maddog” Hall will present “Ten Reasons Not to Use Linux… and Why
Those Reasons Are Crap”.
Tuesday’s program will feature a blue-ribbon panel of Linux
International board members gazing into the crystal ball to predict
the future of Linux. Panel members will include Larry Augustin, VA
Research; Donnie Barnes, Red Hat Software; Mark Bolzern, Linux
Mall; Jeff Carr, Linux Power PC Organization; Ted Cook, EST Inc.;
Maurice Hilarius, Hard Data Ltd.; Ransom Love, Caldera; and Cliff
Miller, Pacific HiTech.
Afternoon sessions will again spotlight Linux for the Channel
and Linux for the Masses.
