“Welcome to Rune, a 3D action game developed by Human Head
Studios Inc, and ported to Linux by Loki Software . In Rune you
take on the character Ragnar the Viking, a young warrior who has
just come of age, and must go on a quest to stop Conrack, a cruel
chieftain and follower of Loki (Of Viking Legend, not the Loki in
California ;).”
“The game itself is built on the Unreal Tournament engine,
modified by Human Head Studios: Human Head licensed the UT engine
and made several enhancements to it, including a skeletal animation
system, a new particle effects system, and an enhanced shadowing
system. All in all with these enhancements, the game play is smooth
and fluid. With these enhancements comes natural settings,
elements/people/creatures that react to their environments and
other people. They all add up to a great game.“
“The plot in this game (as of mentioned above) is a rich,
involving story. It is all set from the beginning of the game,
where Ragnar is being named The Odin’s Blade. A ceremony set at the
villages Rune Stones. The Rune Stones are a circular series of old
stones, telling the tales of times past. They also tell the tale of
brave warriors, who defended the people. The Rune Stones offer
power and protection to the people of the villages.”
