Linux’s x86 vitality bodes well for Moblin project

“The LF’s research is based on programmatic analysis of
the Linux source code tree, using Jonathan Corbet’s open source
gitdm (Git Data Mine) tool. The tool examines source code patch
dates, authors, and “sign-off” names, in order to determine who
contributed original code and code review work, and when they did
so.

“A previous version of the paper, released in 2008, analyzed
2.6.11 through 2.6.24 kernels. The current, updated version looks
at the 20 major releases between 2.6.11 and 2.6.30. It also calls
out several significant changes since the 2.6.24 release.”
