National Post: California firm buys Ottawa Linux developer the Puffin Group

“The Puffin Group, a private Linux development firm in Ottawa,
has merged with a U.S. rival that plans to launch a global assualt
to make Linux the worldwide operating system of choice in the next
decade.”

“Linuxcare Inc., of San Francisco, announced yesterday that it
had acquired the Puffin Group for an undisclosed amount following
several months of negotiations….”

The Puffin Group has been able to build up its customer
base with virtually no marketing following a high-profile deal
announced in March to provide Linux services to Hewlett-Packard
Co., which ships 15% to 20% of its systems loaded with
Linux.
