NewsForge: Blinkbid Turns to Open iRadeon for CRM

“Louis Lesko came up with the idea for Blinkbid invoicing
software for photographers after scribbling notes on a napkin at a
cocktail party. Though Blinkbid itself is closed source, it was
built using open source tools, so it’s no wonder that, after its
success, Lesko chose an open source customer relationship
management package (CRM) to keep track of contacts and
payments.

“Blinkbid was first released in October 2003, and it was
immediately popular, says Lesko. ‘Our sales increased, and we
needed a way to keep in touch and keep our databases accessible to
everyone who would eventually work for us.’ With a staff spread out
across California and a programmer in London, paper trails were
difficult to maintain and even more difficult to share…”
