NewsForge: The Myth of Stability

” Many computer cognoscenti scoff at new software and hardware
because it’s ‘not stable yet’ or because ‘the bugs have not been
worked out of it.’ They often use this as an excuse not to buy
computer upgrades or install software updates. But what does

upgrade really ensure a greater degree of reliability?

stage of debug testing can’t really be trusted in production

over being the first kid on your block to have them. In fact, you
might end up worse off if you wait too long…”
