“Corel’s chief executive again aims at Redmond, this time with
an operating system.”
“As millions of low-cost computers from its manufacturing
partners hit the market in August equipped with the first
Linux-based desktop, Corel Corp.’s strategy to position the
operating system as an alternative to Windows will begin to take
shape, Corel Corp. CEO Michael Cowpland said yesterday.
“Although he admits the reality of Linux as a commonly found
desktop is as far as four years away, Mr Cowpland is confident the
growth of the system will continue to accelerate.”
