“That appears to be the case as the Apache Group (APCH), the
collective that built the most popular Web server on the Net, today
announced the creation of an incorporated entity, the Apache
Software Foundation. The ASF did not, however, affix “Inc.” to the
end of its name in its press release.”
“The company will be non-profit and membership-based. It is
designed to offer legal, financial and organizational structure to
the open-source-based Apache projects. Membership in the company is
by invitation, which will be extended based on technical
contributions to ASF projects, Apache officials said.”
