Light activity over the holidays, but one important change that is easy to do
on existing servers is the change in default free space map settings for all
future versions. To make this change on an existing server, simply change
max_fsm_relations to 1000 in your postgresql.conf (not needed if your already set more than this) and
restart your server. This requires a little bit more memory consumption, but
the benefits in server maintenance are worth it. The change is mostly due to
Philip Warner's research, if you want more details there is good information
archived in the mailing lists.
