“InfoInterActive…the leading application service provider of
Internet call management services, announced today Internet Call
Manager for Linux along with a comprehensive strategy to involve
Linux developers in the creation of future services. The move
extends InfoInterActive’s services to a rapidly growing and
influential segment of computers users and also expands its client
software availability, which currently includes Windows and
Macintosh platforms.”
“Internet Call Manager is the world’s first personal call
management application for handling telephone calls as they happen
while consumers are on-line. First introduced in 1997, ICM now
includes a full suite of services empowering Internet users to
fully manage their calls in real-time. For dial-up Internet users,
ICM solves the dilemma of frequent busy signals, and has become the
leading, cost-effective alternative to an additional phone
line.”
“The Linux version of Internet Call Manager will be released in
three stages beginning the first quarter of 2000. First, a binary
client will be released to allow the Linux community to acquaint
itself with the product’s real-time Internet call management
capabilities. The source code for the user interface will then be
made freely available, allowing the imagination and creativity of
Linux users and developers to create new variations of the product.
The third release will include the free source code for the entire
client including the protocol for communicating with
InfoInterActive’s servers. This three-stage release will allow
InfoInterActive to incorporate valuable feedback from the Linux
users to ensure maximum portability across Linux variants.”
