PRNewswire: Penguin Computing, VeriSign & Nuron Enable High-Speed, High-Volume Secure E-Commerce

“VeriSign, Inc. (Nasdaq: VRSN), the leading provider of Internet
trust services, along with Nuron LLC, a developer of programmable
logic coprocessors, and Penguin Computing Inc., leading provider of
reliable Linux-based systems for Internet serving, today announced
an agreement to integrate VeriSign’s website digital certificates
into Penguin Computing’s Linux-based servers with Nuron’s adaptive
computing boards (AcB). Penguin Computing’s AcB-equipped Web
servers will now provide customers with a one-step, out-of-the-box
process to deploy secure e-commerce web sites.”

“VeriSign’s website digital certificates authenticate intranet,
extranet, and e-commerce sites, enabling encrypted transactions and
communications between browsers and servers across the Internet.
(See related release, “VeriSign Trust Services Integrated Into
E-Commerce Offerings of More than 70,000 ISVs, ISPs, ASPs, Web
Hosting Companies and Other Leading Providers,” dated September 19,
2000.)”

“Under terms of the agreement, Penguin Computing is
integrating VeriSign’s website digital certificate enrollment
module into all Penguin Computing servers equipped with Nuron’s
accelerator boards. This enables the automatic generation of
“digital keys” required to create a website digital
certificate.
Without this integration, a customer would be
required to manually generate certificate keys after installing
their Web server software, requiring a multistage process.”
