WARNING! WARNING! WARNING!
--------------------------

This release is an UNSTABLE development series snapshot. It is intended for
testing and hacking purposes ONLY. Like the Linux kernel, GNOME uses odd
minor version numbers to indicate development status, so this 2.1.x series
will eventually become the official 2.2 release. Please check our schedule
for more info: http://developer.gnome.org/dotplan/schedule/

Build Requirements
------------------

  - The tarballs included in the release. :-)

  - Some very basic packages not distributed with this release, such as
image libraries, popt and freetype. These should all be included with or
    available for your distribution.

  - Xft2 and fontconfig for superior font rendering and configuration, from
    http://fontconfig.org/

  - Docbook DTD 4.1.2, Docbook XSL stylesheets and a valid system catalogue
file for scrollkeeper (which in turn is required by many desktop
        components for documentation).

Happy testing!

GNOME Personal Information Manager 1.4.9

                               GNOME-PIM 1.4.9
                               ===============

This is a bug fix release for GNOME-PIM, the GNOME Personal Information
Manager. GNOME-PIM includes an iCal based calendar and a vCard based
address book application.

This version fixes some crashers and other bugs.

GNOME-PIM 1.4.9 is available at:

  http://me.in-berlin.de/~jroger/gnome-pim/gnome-pim-1.4.9.tar.gz

Development of the stable version is taking place in the gnome-pim module
of GNOME's CVS repository, branch gnome-pim-1-4.

The GNOME 2 Porting Effort
--------------------------

The effort to port GNOME-PIM to the GNOME 2 platform, while modernizing
its code base at the same time, has slowed down a bit. The latest version
(early preview), dubbed 1.91.1 "Only 48 Hours, NOT!", is still available
at

  http://me.in-berlin.de/~jroger/gnome-pim/libmimedir-0.2.0.tar.gz
  http://me.in-berlin.de/~jroger/gnome-pim/gnome-pim-1.91.1.tar.gz

For the current development efforts, see the trunk of GNOME CVS's
gnome-pim module. Current efforts concentrate on the finalization of
libmimedir.
