“Eric Raymond, president of the Open Source Initiative, points
to the transcript of a recent conference call in which he was
quizzed about open source by Prudential Securities analyst Brent
Thill and a group of Prudential Securities investors.“At one point, Thill asks Raymond, ‘Is there a way that
Microsoft could coexist with the open source movement?’“Raymond answers, ‘It’s hard to see how because they’re used to
a level of pricing and a level of profits that can really only be
sustained if you have monopoly lockout. So in that sense I don’t
really see how they could survive…'”
