“The era of proprietary computing is over. Its closed,
inflexible model is a dinosaur, outliving its purpose–especially
now that IT innovation has gone global. The high tech centers in
India and China have gotten their jump-start thanks to open source
platforms like Linux, and the trend away from proprietary standards
will only accelerate as new centres continue to emerge around the
globe.
