The SGMLtools project, regretfully, has been victimized by my overfilled schedule lately. A new version has been due for some time now, a lot of suggestions and todo's have been accumulating, etcetera. The project deserves better than that, and as my schedule won't change in the near future, I'm looking for one or more people to take over the project. SGMLtools in its v2.0 incarnation provides a wholly new and completely improved way of writing software documentation, based on the industry standard DocBook rather than the "proprietary" Linuxdoc DTD. It consists of a number of third-party packages, a Python front-end to these, and a lot of code to get all this to install in a user-friendly manner. If you're interested, visit http://www.sgmltools.org and fetch the sources from the CVS repository (follow "Download" link). Also take a look at the Development page, especially the To-do list. Maintaining SGMLtools is quite a task, so I can understand if you're just interested in taking over part(s). If multiple people want to cooperate, I can envision people doing just one of these tasks: -- Website maintenance; -- SGMLtools Python scripts maintenance/development; -- Installation scripts/autoconf maintenance; -- CVS and Release work. I suggest you discuss this on the SGMLtools mailing list, so people can team up over there. Skills needed: -- Unix tools (make, autoconf, libtool, CVS); -- Good Python knowledge; -- Working knowledge of SGML and DSSSL; -- If possible, C++ knowledge (for Jade maintenance); -- Web administration.
