“Unfortunately, the number of integrated programming
environments available has been limited. Until recently, most of
the focus was placed on code editing rather than the holistic
approach used by Integrated Development Environments (IDE).
Fortunately, Cygnus’ CodeFusion and Metrowerks’ CodeWarrior, two
powerhouses IDE’s, have made significant progress in the Linux
market – both in marketing and technology.”
“How well do the two products fulfill their design objectives?
Will they meet the needs of both intermediate and advanced
programmers? How well do they support OpenSource software, such as
RCS? These are some of the questions the average Linux programmer
will ask when considering an IDE. In order to help educate the
Linux community 32BitsOnline has created an objective review of the
two products. The review will show the common, and not so
common, features of both integrated development environments. No
rating system was used, and the main goal of the article is to
reveal the virtues and limitations of each product.“
