While I have many years of experience as a system
administrator in a variety of UNIX flavors, my networking
administrator skills were in need of improvement. This book has
provided me with a great deal of newly acquired knowledge in this
area.
Mark Sportack starts off with a general overview of
internetworking and works his way to more router specific
information, such as routing protocols, with ease. The logical
organization of this book provided a good flow to the material
covered.”

“The first section of IP Routing Fundamentals covers networking
and internetworking fundamentals. Sportack starts off with a
general overview of the OSI model (what networking book would be
complete without one?). Although in today’s reality the working
model is the TCP/IP model, with only four layers instead of seven,
Cisco designs its equipment with the OSI model in mind. This is
fine, since the two are fairly interchangeable.”
