I’ve added Mandrake 7.0 to my distribution comparison (also
includes Corel Linux Deluxe, RedHat 6.1, SuSE 6.3 and Caldera 2.3 –
I will be adding newer distributions as I get & review
them).

See http://AboutLinux.com/art_distro5_a.html
for the full monty…

“I recently reviewed Mandrake Linux 7.0; so it’s time to
publish a new head-to-head comparison between distributions – the
Third Distribution War (revision 3)
if you will.”

“A couple of readers have suggested that I revise the scoring;
they felt that I was sometimes awarding scores that were too high.
I can understand why they would think that: over time, as the
distributions have gotten better, the scores have gotten rather
high…”

“Since I did not want to award scores higher than 10, I decided
to scale the previous results by multiplying them by 0.9, after
which I made some minor adjustments to Corel’s X11 score. This
allows some headroom for newer distributions to score higher in
categories where older releases already scored very highly. Under
the new scale a it is almost impossible to get a ’10’.”
