AllLinuxDevices: IBM Enhances Software For Delivering Web Content To Handheld Devices

“IBM today announced important enhancements to its software
designed to translate Web content to a variety of handheld devices
such as smart phones and personal digital assistants (PDAs).”

“WebSphere Transcoding Publisher Version 3.5 now supports
additional devices, translates more formats and languages, and
features improved flexibility and administrative functions. Growing
e-businesses that are extending Web content to employees, customers
and suppliers via handheld devices can benefit from the
software.”

Built on a Java-based architecture, the software converts
data and applications written in the standard markup languages of
the Web — HTML and XML — to other formats such as Wireless Markup
Language (WML), Handheld Device Markup Language (HDML) and iMode
(used primarily for smart phones in Japan and other Asian
regions).
The software is based on open industry standards and
is available for AIX, Linux, Solaris and Microsoft Windows NT and
Windows 2000 operating systems.”
