This letter, disputing a press release from Rappore
Technologies claiming to have released the first Linux Bluetooth
protocol stack and SDK, was written by Phil Verghese of RidgeRun,
We did some followup with both companies, the results of which are
included in an editor’s note at the end of the letter.

“We saw the recent press release on your website from Lineo and
Rappore Technologies claiming to have the first Bluetooth protocol
stack for an embedded Linux OS. Lineo and Rappore are not the first
to release a Bluetooth stack and there’s an active Open Source
project for Bluetooth on Linux hosted at http://developer.axis.com.
RidgeRun ported the Open Source Bluetooth protocol stack to both
the ARM and MIPS platforms, and demonstrated Bluetooth running on
our embedded DSPLinux at Comdex last month. We incorporated all of
our changes into the Open Source project and we expect to continue
to add enhancements and changes as Bluetooth evolves.”
