Rebel released its newest Netwinder server appliance today,
crediting the Crusoe processor the unit ships with for lowering the
power consumption of the units to 14 watts and reducing the weight
of the devices to 2.15 pounds.

“The Netwinder 3100 is aimed at small businesses with a range of
networking requirements, including e-mail servers, web site
hosting, printer/file sharing, and virtual private network (VPN)
access with IPSec support via the company’s RebelConnect software.
The device also offers firewalling.”

“Internet connection sharing is allowed via ISDN, DSL/PPPoE,
cable, and dialup connections, and also provides three 100Base-T
network interface ports to accomodate connection of the devices to
both Network Attached Storage Devices or connecting to a separate,
secure (DMZ) network.”
