“Hello and welcome to the first edition of the weekly
AllLinuxDevices news roundup. We plan to keep you informed of big
events in the embedded Linux world from week to week.
If you
have a tip, a suggestion, or a comment, pass it along to the editor
or check out the reader submission form at AllLinuxDevices.”

“AllLinuxDevices kicked off operations with a feature by Michael
Hall about the new handhelds.org web site, sponsored by Compaq.
handhelds.org is just part of Compaq’s broader committment to
getting the tools Free/Open Source Software developers need to make
Linux-on-the-handheld a reality.”

“Everyone loves an underdog story, and Indrema’s run on the home
gaming console industry is one to follow. Not content to allow
Sony, Sega, Microsoft, and Nintendo to squabble over the immense
home-gaming pie, Indrema is wading in with a Linux-based system
that includes MP3 and DVD players. The system is also expandable
and upgradable, which is an interesting twist to the
generally-limited gaming console market. Gamers.com speculates that
the Indrema will prompt more game development for Linux in general,
which is a hopeful thought for those of us already wearing holes in
our Quake III CD’s.”
