Interface Concept, the Brittany, France-based
communications infrastructure enabler has selected the Hard Hat
Linux operating system from MontaVista Software Inc. to run the
company’s new high performance LAN-WAN remote access communications
server and Ethernet switches.

“Interface Concept is a highly innovative designer, manufacturer
and worldwide supplier of high-performance communications boards
and systems, providing both COTS (Commercial-Off-The-Shelf) and
customizable solutions for a host of blue chip manufacturers of
integrated voice and data transmission, and remote access and
routing equipment.”

“MontaVista was the only company driving fully-functional
embedded Linux product solutions for our applications,” said Bruno
Rolland, managing director of Interface Concepts. “We were
delighted by the performance improvement that Hard Hat Linux
delivered in our benchmark tests, compared with the proprietary
VRTX and pSOS real-time operating systems that we ran on our
previous generation Ethernet switches. We achieved between a
five-fold and ten-fold improvement in TCP/IP data throughput, due
primarily to the collective contribution from the Open Source
Community utilized in Hard Hat Linux,” he added.”
