“COMPAQ realizes the importance of Linux in creating a
marketplace for low-cost, high performance Alpha workstations,”
said Jon “Maddog” Hall.

“Part of the reason that Applix is being successful in the Linux
market is that we’re listening to our customer’s requests. We have
seen strong demand from Linux users who use COMPAQ Alpha based
machines for an integrated office suite and have responded by
