ARM-based MID boasts voice-enabled Facebook

“China-based SmartDevices started selling its SmartQ5 and
SmartQ7 mobile Internet devices (MIDs) earlier this year. Instead
of the MID-typical Intel Atom CPU, however, both devices are
equipped with a Samsung S3C6410 system-on-chip (SoC). Incorporating
an ARM1176 core, the SoC offers “advanced hardware blocks for
multimedia processing,” according to Samsung. The S3C6410 has been
incorporated in a Samsung/Chumby reference design for digital
picture frames (DPFs).

“The Lighthouse SQ7 can be set up for DPF duty itself, thanks to
its fold-out stand and photo slideshow feature, but it’s primarily
billed as a mobile device. Measuring 7.9 x 4.7 x 0.9 inches (200 x
120 x 24mm) and weighing 17 oz (480 g), the device’s has a 4500 mAH
battery that provides up to five hours of active use or up to
twelve hours in standby mode, says AdelaVoice.”
