sensitive to reaction of Microsoft Corp. The company’s
decision attracts stronger attention because it was made
immediately after the U.S. District Court ordered Microsoft to
comply with antitrust actions.”
“NEC also has been aggressive in adopting Linux on the
Express5800 server. In April, the company invested capital for a 14
percent share in Miracle Linux Corp. established by Oracle Corp.
Japan and, in June, it announced it would OEM its clustering
software to the Japanese subsidiary of TurboLinux. Also in July,
NEC financed the Japanese affiliate of U.S.-based VA Linux Systems,
a Linux server venture.”
