AUSTRALIAN IT received an unprecedented response to our
coverage of Bill Gates’ .Net presentation in Australia. We have
published a sample of the feedback below….

“Not sure he knows what he is talking about when it comes to
make [Linux] work. There are things are are very simple on MS
platforms, but those are the cheap things. The stuff that ends up
costing are the complicated enterprise setups, which coincidentally
are complicated on any platform. At least with Linux the enterprise
software does not require you to mortgage the enterprise to
purchase….”

“Gates fails to understand the benefits of Open Source software
and development methods. Furthermore, Gates shows his ignorance of
the IT landscape – Linux has changed that landscape forever and it
is the outdated business models of companies like Microsoft that
will have to change in order to keep up.”
