“In the mix of today’s choices that include Linux and Windows
NT, we have chosen to support both operating systems for our
Polaris simulation products,” said Dr. Chi-Ping Hsu, executive
staff of products at Avant!. “Benchmarks have demonstrated that
Polaris’ superior simulation performance is even more compelling on
Intel-based servers running the Linux operating system. Linux
appeals to designers because it has stability and UNIX
compatibility. Many of our high-end customers want to implement
server farms dedicated to RTL simulation to shorten their
verification schedules and improve product quality. Linux affords
them the opportunity to implement these server farms with
lower-cost, higher-performance Intel-based servers that co-exist
seamlessly with their existing UNIX-based workstations and
servers.”
