Batch processing in Aperture and Digikam

“In case you handle many similar (or even different) photos,
batch processing is one of the features you will be looking for in
a photo management application. Both digiKam and Aperture deliver
excellent results if it comes to batch processing of your images.
However, the look and feel of batch processing is entirely
different between the two applications and as we will see, their
implementation is also very different. And of course, the work that
one has to put into batch processing also differs.

“Aperture

“In Aperture, one can use the procedure of “lift and stamp” to
batch process photos. The idea of lift and stamp is that one
adjusts one picture and brings the adjustments over to several
other pictures (stamping). And what ‘s nice about this is that you
can do this with metadata as well as adjustments. So, you cannot
only quickly adjust all of your photos, but you can also e.g. add
copyright statements, change the name of the photographer or change
the description of a large set of photos.”
