“IntraLinux, Inc. today announced that the free e-mail
service offered to the Open Source community that was launched last
week is temporarily out of service.”

“Last week IntraLinux, Inc. planned a ‘disturbance’ in the
street outside the Moscone Center Windows 2000 event in San
Francisco. IntraLinux, Inc. intended to help the business community
see the strategic value of open source solutions while bringing
some clean fun into a rather serious and conservative exposition.
IntraLinux(tm) representatives handed out free penguin peppermints,
stuffed penguins and Linux(tm) information, along with information
on the free email product.”

“The free email service is offered to anyone who wants it,
subject to registration at the web site. Though only minimal
personal information will be required to become a subscriber, users
are asked to pledge support to the open source community. The free
service will carry minimal advertising to all subscribers. However,
the company policy is to only offer ‘push’ solicitations to those
who agree to receive them. The company plans to only advertise for
Linux-related products.”
