“Lutris Technologies, Inc., an Open Source enterprise software
and services company, today announced the first release of Enhydra
Enterprise code to the developer community. The release of the
product source code is an important step in the development of the
Enhydra Enterprise application server and represents the first
availability of an enterprise-level, Java/XML open source
application server. Enhydra Enterprise is the direct result of
joint development projects between noted open source supporters
BullSoft and France Telecom, and the current Enhydra developer
community, all of which contributed significant source code and
expertise to the project.”

“The availability of Enhydra Enterprise in the community is a
true testament to the open source development ideal,” explained
Yancy Lind, President and CEO at Lutris Technologies. “Unlike the
proprietary software development model, we rely on the work and
expertise of a worldwide developer community to ensure that the
product is viable and meets the needs of its users, and in much
less time. Contributions from our development partners like
BullSoft and France Telecom, and the individual development
community will effectively cut development time for this product to
under a year.”

Enhydra Enterprise includes a number of technologies and
standards required for the product to be considered
enterprise-ready, and which significantly increase the application
server’s scalability and flexibility.
These standards include
Servlet 2.2, JSP 1.1, JNDI 1.0, JDBC 2.0/ext, EJB 1.1, hJTA 1.0,
HTTP, HTTPS, RMI with the addition of JMS 1.0 imminent. In
addition, Enhydra Enterprise also includes cluster support,
expanded application and code generation capabilities for rapid
application development, XML extensions, WML/Wireless support and
SNMP/JMX management.”
