“As part of its ongoing effort to take a leading role in
promoting the Linux operating system throughout the embedded,
applied and appliance computing markets, NETsilicon Inc. (Nasdaq:
NSIL), a premier provider of network-enabled, system-on-chip
solutions for embedded systems, today announced that it has become
a member of the Embedded Linux Consortium (ELC). As an early
advocate for the group, and now as a member, NETsilicon is working
with the ELC to help drive and accelerate the acceptance of Linux
in embedded systems.”

“We can all see there is plenty of room for Linux to grow in the
embedded market, and NETsilicon intends to be among the leaders of
that charge,” said Pete Peterson, NETsilicon’s president and chief
executive officer. “In helping each other promote Linux in unison,
we’re all helping our clients realize the advantages of a system
that allows them to reduce their time-to-market and bring down
their development and runtime costs,” he added, noting that:
“Embedded Linux is an important part of NETsilicon’s effort to
accelerate the integration of these electronic devices into
enterprise networks, particularly in the form of our integrated
NET+Lx product, which integrates embedded hardware and networking
software in a Linux environment.”

“Murry Shohat, executive director of the new consortium, said,
“The consortium’s mission is to speed the adoption of Linux in
embedded markets through our membership, promotion and
implementation programs. We are striving to educate the market
about Linux’s reliability, modularity, scalability and low cost.”
Shohat added, “The consortium looks to our dynamic, proactive
members, such as NETsilicon, to help set the agenda, articulate our
vision and take the initiative in broadening the appeal and
implementability of embedded Linux.”
