“QLogic…the market share leader in Fibre Channel host bus
adapters, and an innovator in SCSI connectivity solutions, today
announced full, optimized support for the Linux operating system on
its QLA2100 and QLA2200 series Fibre Channel host bus adapters as
well as its Ultra3 and Ultra2 SCSI host bus adapters.”

By working closely with our Linux customers to determine
their needs, we’ve designed drivers to optimize performance in this
popular environment. These powerful Linux drivers are included
standard in all QLogic QLA2100, QLA2200, Ultra3 and Ultra2 series
host bus adapters
,” said Mark Edwards, vice president and
general manager of QLogic’s Computer Systems Group. “As Linux
continues to gain tremendous momentum, we’ve kept pace with that
growth by delivering the broadest Linux support of any host bus
adapter provider in the market.”

“Some analysts such as IDC say growth in commercial shipments of
the Linux operating system will outpace other client or server
operating environments through 2003. According to the IDC bulletin,
“Linux Operating System Market Overview,” Linux commercial
shipments will grow at a compound annual rate of 25 percent from
1999 through 2003, compared to 10 percent for all other client
operating environments and 12 percent for all other server
operating environments combined.”
