“Tandberg Data Inc. Tuesday announced that it has certified its
SLR(tm) (Scalable Linear Recording) for operation under the Linux
operating system as part of the company’s commitment to offer broad
support for this platform.

“The company said it plans to qualify its SLR Product Group for
Linux operations and also intends to support commercial ISVs such
as Legato, Veritas and CA/Cheyenne, as they move their backup and
data management applications to Linux platforms.

“We believe Linux will be a major market force, particularly for
Internet, education and scientific applications, where it is
rapidly becoming the preferred server OS choice,” said Al Duras,
vice president, distribution sales and marketing at Tandberg
Data.
