BW: TurboLinux Outsells Microsoft Windows in China

TurboLinux, the high performance Linux company, has been
the number one operating system platform in China for the past four
months, outselling the upgrade version of Microsoft’s Windows 98
and 2000, according to China’s largest software retail
store.

“Government support for Linux, price and the exploding Internet
economy have helped drive sales of TurboLinux 4.0 Chinese at
Federal Software Store’s 256 outlets across China, said Li Ru
Xiong, vice president of Federal.”

“TurboLinux has a very good start in China,” Xiong said. “In
China the IT industry and the Internet are growing very fast. But
Chinese customers don’t have the budget for U.S. software. So of
course Linux is a major focus.”
