“The Linux development community will again have a position on
the International Softswitch Consortium (ISC) thanks to Vovida
Networks, Inc. of San Jose, California. “Because we respect and
appreciate the talents of the Linux development community and are
interested in ensuring that developers from around the world have
an active role in the adoption and growth of Linux within markets
for datacom and telecom convergence on IP networks,”
said Alan
Knitowski, President and CEO of Vovida Networks, “we are continuing
our sponsorship of a corporate seat for the Linux community on the
International Softswitch Consortium.”

“With an estimated 10 million Linux developers around the
world,” Knitowski went on to state, “we want to be sure that not
only the developers would be represented at the ISC, but also that
their representative would have equivalent rights and voting
privileges as any of the enterprise member companies. We are
pleased to sponsor a seat on the International Softswitch
Consortium and will work with the Linux community to achieve
widespread support for open source, royalty free standards within
datacom and telecom.”

“Linux developers can find additional information regarding the
position, nominating of candidates and voting at the Vovida
Networks website, www.vovida.com, in the Open Source – Linux
section of the site. Voting will be conducted at Vovida Networks’
website August 14th – 17th. The election is being held in
conjunction with the LinuxWorld Conference and Expo (San Jose
Convention Center).”
