Canada Computes: Rating Linux Web sites

“For the new Linux user, the sheer number of Linux dedicated Web
sites can be more than a little overwhelming. Type “Linux” into a
search engine and you’ll get more than 12 million hits.”

I hate to say it, but there are a lot of worthless Linux
Web sites out there. In fact, I would go so far as to say that at
least 11 million of the hits you can find through search engines
such as AltaVista and Yahoo! are completely useless.

“This abundance of worthless sites is the reason I decided I
would write a series of articles detailing sites that I consider
vital to your Linux enjoyment. Hopefully, this information will be
valuable to Linux newcomers. No doubt there are many other sites
that readers will think belong here that I haven’t mentioned. If
you think there is a good site not listed, either I don’t know
about it or I don’t think it’s worth checking on a fairly regular
basis. (Editor’s note: Feel free to recommend links to your
favourite sites, which we will add below)”
