Chicago Sun-Times: Pull better PC performance out of Red Hat

With all the folderol surrounding the Evil
Empire–Microsoft–and its current antitrust trial, and all the
gnashing of teeth by users of Windows, I wonder why these same
gnashers don’t simply bail out and try another operating
system.

… there is an operating system–a quite powerful, flexible,
and reliable one to boot–that will run on your Intel hardware,
just as if it were designed from the get-go for that purpose. It’s
called Linux.

Red Hat Linux 5.2, the latest version, will run on just about
any PC made in the last 10 years.
