China Daily: Linux Operating System Gains Ground in China

“Linux, one of the only operating systems that has a freely
available source code, is experiencing booming business in China
this year…

“An official from Turbo Linux [sic], one of the top
three Linux software vendors in the world and which controls 76 per
cent of the market share in China, told Business Weekly that the
company would soon be in the black, helped by big contracts signed
with Chinese companies.

“Sinopec recently awarded Turbo Linux a contract for the
operating systems of its 20,000 gas stations located around the
country. Beijing City Commerce Bank also has decided to adopt Turbo
Linux to save costs and maintain a high level of security…”
