CNET is reporting that Czech company Blokman Trading has ported
Linux 2.4 to the Playstation. A 25 MB kernel source download is
available at http://www.runix.ru, and a beta release
of the OS is slated for July.

The company says it plans to supply a hardware add-on kit
providing memory extensions and ports for the Playstation in
October, as well as a gaming SDK and “office package” by the end of
the year. It’s also working on bringing its work to the
PlayStation2.

All the code the company provides will be made available under
the GPL.
