“BackupEdge is a tar-based solution for data backup and recovery
from Microlite. It features character- and GUI-based front ends
that facilitate administration and interactive backup-and-restore
operations. The latest edition of BackupEdge–version
01.01.08–includes improved support for Red Hat 7 and other Linux
systems based on glib 2.1. BackupEdge offers affordable, reliable
backup and disaster recovery–ideal for businesses with networked
machines running Linux and Unix variants.”

BackupEdge is especially useful for system administrators
who manage data backup and disaster recovery in an enterprise
environment. The program supports standalone tape backup devices,
tape changers and auto-loaders, and HP Tape Alert messages (on
drives that support Tape Alert).

“BackupEdge also supports network-based backup and restoration
of data. Setting up a network backup is as easy as defining a
remote tape drive in BackupEdge’s configuration. Using a remote
drive for data backup can help cut costs considerably, since you
don’t need to install a tape drive for each of your servers and
administration can be performed from a single location.”
