Brussels, Free and Open Source Software Developers
European Meeting, February 16 and 17– The FOSDEM
organization has announced that the FREE AND OPEN SOURCE SOFTWARE
DEVELOPERS EUROPEAN MEETING, will take place February 16 and 17,
2002 in Brussels , Belgium. The two-day summit will bring together
leading developers in the Open Source community, and is the first
in an ongoing series of events organized by the FOSDEM. By hosting
a series of tightly focused developer-to-developer (D2D) events,
the FOSDEM will facilitate communication and cooperation between
Free and Open Source software developers working in key technology
areas. FOSDEM ‘s first Free and Open Source Software Developers
European Meeting, held in February 2001, was a huge success. More
than 1.000 developers made the trip to Brussels to attend this
two-day event.
For the second edition, the FOSDEM will feature speakers
representing some of the leading Free Software and Open Source
projects and developers, including, Richard Stallman, Miguel De
Icaza, Richard Dale from KDE, Richard Moore on DProbes, Vincent
Rijmen on Rijdael algorithm,
“Most free software developers are focused on their specific
projects. Meeting the developers of other free programs is a great
opportunity to get new ideas” said Richard Stallman
FOSDEM ‘s goal is to provide Free and Open Source developers and
communities a place to go over the lastest developments in the Free
and Open Source arena and to promote the development and the
benefits of Free and Open Source solutions.
