“Linux’s penguin is capturing the hearts of India. The low-cost
and lesser-known operating system is finding good traction among
cash-strapped corporations and state governments, and is slowly
starting to dilute the stranglehold of Microsoft’s Windows
operating in the process.

“Linux adherents believe the operating system’s cost advantages
and flexibility makes it ideally suited for developing economies
like India–a view supported by a study conducted by Red Hat India,
a Linux vendor, Linux is expected to be installed in 200,000
desktop personal computers in India by December 2003…”
