“Linux operating systems are expanding beyond their traditional
use in Web server environments and establishing themselves as a key
part of a company’s information technology infrastructure,
according to a new survey of information technology (IT)
professionals. About 49 percent of 2,000 IT managers surveyed
said they consider Linux as an “important to essential” element of
their enterprise computing strategies.”

“Final results of the survey will be released in September, but
MERIT decided to release some of the findings early to coincide
with next week’s Linux World Expo…”
