“With 52 Unisys e-@action 5000 Enterprise Servers running
Windows 2000 Advanced Server and Windows 2000 Data Center Server
(in beta code), it conducts 4,000 transactions per second and
handles 3 billion Web hits per day.
[Unisys CEO Lawrence]
Weinbach estimated the five-day data center demonstration will
process more than 30 times the e-commerce purchasing volumes of
last year’s holiday shopping season.

The center uses a single copy of Microsoft SQL Server 7 for a
9T-byte data warehouse, the largest ever built on SQL Server,
Unisys officials said.

Weinbach said Unisys provided both hardware and software atop
Windows 2000. Weinbach and Ballmer argued that it was cheaper for
dot-com companies to build a system using Windows 2000 and to base
such a system on Unix servers.”
