ComputerWorld: Users of NT on Alpha to be offered trade-in, migration options

“Users affected by Compaq Computer Corp.’s decision to
drop Windows NT on its Alpha servers will be offered trade-in
programs and migration services to Windows NT or Windows 2000 on
ProLiant servers
, according to the contents of an internal
document being prepared by Compaq for circulation to
customers.”

“All platform upgrades and future Alpha workstations will
support Tru64 Unix, OpenVMS and certified Linux operating systems,
according to the letter. As with servers, there are no plans to
deploy or support 64-bit Windows NT on Alpha workstations.”
